Building and construction activities are notorious for damaging the environment.

From dumping a huge slab of concrete in the middle of a pristine natural environment, to generating vast amounts of cement-contaminated run-off water and loads of building rubble which has to be disposed of somewhere, building is a really unfriendly activity if we are considering the environment.

Add to that the intrinsic energy cost and building is a very costly exercise. But what other options do we have, we have to shelter somewhere and where would we keep all our stuff if we didn't have a building?
